Maiden Erlegh School in Reading student, wins World Mental Maths Championship and prepares for Global Cup in California

We are thrilled to announce that Mattia, a remarkable Year 9 student from Maiden Erlegh School in Reading, has achieved an extraordinary victory at the World Mental Maths Championship held in Amsterdam on 27 October 2024. His exceptional ability to solve complex mental arithmetic problems in record time earned him the title, solidifying his place as one of the world’s best in mental mathematics.

But Mattia’s journey doesn’t stop there! His impressive win at the World Championship has led to an incredible new opportunity, he has been invited to compete in the prestigious Global Cup International Abacus Mental Arithmetic Competition in California this weekend! 🌍✨

The Global Cup is one of the most respected international competitions in the field of mental arithmetic, bringing together the brightest young minds from around the world. Competitors are challenged to solve a series of complex mathematical problems using the Abacus method, an ancient and powerful tool for performing mental calculations. The event is renowned for showcasing exceptional skills in both mental math and abacus techniques.

Mattia's invitation to participate in this event is a huge achievement, representing the hard work, and passion for maths. We are incredibly proud of his accomplishments so far and cannot wait to see what the future holds for him.

As he prepares for this exciting international competition, we ask the Maiden Erlegh School in Reading community to join us in wishing Mattia the best of luck! His success is a testament to the hard work and determination that defines our students, and he is truly an inspiration to us all.

Good luck, Mattia! We’re cheering you on every step of the way!
